Psalm 5:1-3 Listen to my words, O Lord, give heed to my sighing and groaning. Hear the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You do I pray. In the morning You hear my voice, O Lord; in the morning I prepare [a prayer, a sacrifice] for You and watch and wait [for You to speak to my heart].
Do we do that enough? Do we give Him time to speak to our hearts? Someone might be waiting on what He spoke to your heart about them. Did you ever think of that? There might be a person out there waiting for your prayer, or waiting for what He wanted you to tell them. Sometimes we misuse our time and don’t spend it with God (which I’m guilty of), but the Holy Spirit is always willing to help us and give us the grace to draw near to Him.
David said that your prayer is a sacrifice; it means you might have to get up early or take a little extra time. God delights in that – when He sees that you got up early to honor Him and love Him, and to read His word. Just think if we all agreed with God and were open to Him, our minds not cluttered with ourselves, our business, or what we have to do. Do you know how happy it makes Him when, even though we have things to do, God can always get our attention?
When you live your life from this point of His presence, you will succeed. In His presence are the answers to your why-nots and your what-ifs. Even if you don’t get the answer that moment, the peace of God will hold you until it comes – because you sought Him…because He loves you.
